preliminary same: If it should work, then only with luck and very complicated!
Yesterday I came up with the idea pointed to my MacBook a few tests to make something destructive! First sounds wild, but I have a time capsule (Apple TimeCapsule) on which I ALWAYS do my good backups!
said than done! After the tests have been completed, external Snow Leopard DVD into the SuperDrive, and behold: Does not start ... its ups, but do not panic, somewhere must still restore the USB media ... Search for anything hectic ready to go!
Now the MacBook starts just fine. So fast the WLAN, the extremely cryptic password, and away you go the Restore! Not so fast my friend! Possible non-content () failed! What? So everything is still checked umpteen times, but everything right! Damn. I know it, with 10.5 it went but also no really ... The mood is now significantly down!
After I have all tried again, hoping to have done something wrong somewhere, I am annoyed point firmly: Reinstall!
Good, then it all updates are gone ... But right at the end of the installation will come back to the Migration Wizard which will work yes! I really thought! Principle of hope! But since I was probably totally wrong!
also the start of the wizard after the installation was not working as I had imagined,
Once the mood had now reached the absolute low point was to try the wild and looking go ...
The solution is simple, far from optimal and annoys me:
- a restore as I had imagined I do not get out! Lt. various forums and blog posts it is not me, it's not!
- Install the current OS, then in my case just Snow Leopard
- Put a dummy account to
- Connecting you start your drive to the TimeCapsule, then the wizard and start the restore!
Somehow I had my morning presented a different and somehow I just put my backup strategy in question completely! Well, there should be little data locally on my machine, I will reduce in future, the backup much, because why should I save so much if it does not help? Approve
