The free IPv4 addresses are running out - this is nothing new, but it is the award the last two regular distributed IPv4 blocks as clearly as never before. The Regional Internet Registry (RIR) for the Asia-Pacific region, APNIC, has indicated the last two / 8-nets that are assigned by the IANA regular - 39 / 8 and 106 / 8 So that the IANA hasnow only has five free / 8 networks, each corresponding to a 1/256tel of available IPv4 address space. According to the procurement rules to end the regular allocation of IPv4 addresses by the IANA to the regional registries and there is the so-called "exhaustion phase" in force. That means: each of the five RIRs will receive a final IPv4 block.
The RIRs their IPv4 awarded in accordance with their own rules. The APNIC estimates that they have for have three to six months is sufficient IPv4 addresses to distribute them to the previously usual rules. Then, the IPv4 addresses from the last block will be awarded in small quantities to ensure that sufficient IPv4 addresses for the transition to IPv6 are available. So will the APNIC can hand out some five years IPv4 addresses.
now is really slow at the end in sight. But many are still reluctant to migrate to the IPv6 and handled carelessly above all, we still pretty much with IPv4 addresses.
